Falling in love with Reading

So I recently came across a blog that was sort of a shout out for people to post what book made them fall in love with reading. Heh, how can I resist a topic like that? So…

The first book that I ever read was Charlotte’s Webb by E. B. White. I loved it. Every second of it. Especially because I knew the movie already. However, if you were to ask me if this was the book that made me fall in love with reading, the answer would be ‘no’.

That belongs to this book: Time Windows by Kathryn Reiss. It’s a ghost story where the protagonist has moved into a new house and finds a dollhouse in her attic. The fun begins when she looks through the windows and sees the ghost of a girl on the other side.

It was the first book that excited me. It impressed me. It is the first book that I could not put down. I recall that the last five chapters were read in a blur. I reached the climax of the book while reading under my desk and when I came home I didn’t even come down for dinner because I was so enraptured. It felt as if the world would end if I put the book down.

Of course once you come down off of a high like that it’s only a matter of time before you want to experience it again…
